Tommy Boy

In The Pink put together some mighty good quotes of what soon to be former Rep. Delay has said over the years. Not to be left behind, let me add my two personal favorites:

1) When speaking about the federal budget

House Majority Leader Tom DeLay said yesterday that Republicans have done so well in cutting spending that he declared an "ongoing victory," and said there is simply no fat left to cut in the federal budget.

Asked if that meant the government was running at peak efficiency, Mr. DeLay said, "Yes, after 11 years of Republican majority we've pared it down pretty good."

Of course this statement was taken at about the same time that Alaska's "Bridges To Nowhere" were added to the transportation bill.

2) When speaking about Congressional pay raises

"It's not a pay raise," said House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, R-Texas. "It's an adjustment so that they're not losing their purchasing power."

Delay, Gingrich, etc- that Contract with America majority sure was built to last!
