Ruby Red Grapefruit, Now Picked By Child Molesters!

What are these people thinking?

House conservatives criticized President Bush, accused the Senate of fouling the air, said prisoners rather than illegal farm workers should pick America's crops and denounced the use of Mexican flags by protesters Thursday in a vehement attack on legislation to liberalize U.S. immigration laws.

"I say let the prisoners pick the fruits," said Rep. Dana Rohrabacher of California, one of more than a dozen Republicans who took turns condemning a Senate bill that offers an estimated 11 million illegal immigrants an opportunity for citizenship.

"Anybody that votes for an amnesty bill deserves to be branded with a scarlet letter 'A,'" said Rep. Steve King of Iowa, referring to a guest worker provision in the Senate measure.

On the bright side, at least the 21st century version of the know-nothing party realizes that the American public will not stand for rising produce prices. Wonder if cons will also be required to trim lawns, manicure nails, and build the future MLB stadium here in San Antonio?

The wonders of incarcerated labor, what can't it do?

Update: According to Tom Tancredo, modern-day immigrants don't come to this country for a shot at the American dream. They come here to kill us:

Tancredo said the reason for his visit to New Hampshire, and eventually to Iowa, is to get a leader in the White House who understands the threat illegal immigrants pose to the country's security.

He said federal prisons overflow with illegal immigrants, some of whom aim to hard people.

"And they need to be found before it is too late. They're coming here to kill you, and you, and me, and my grandchildren," he said, pointing at people in the audience. "It's just despicable."

Apparently these guys are snobs and killing people from their home country is beneath them.

Hat tip to Pink Dome.
