And So It Begins

The Spurs' title defense that is. But in Saint Thomas? Well, if the Lakers get to hold their training camp in Hawaii, I guess we need to hold ours in the Virgin Islands.

We've got a team that's 10, 11 deep, and outside of a refurbished Suns squad, no one else can really keep up with us in the West- although I'd keep an eye out for the new look Kings, they could make some noise. It looks as if the bruising playoff run will come out of the Eastern conference this year with the Heat, Pacers, and Pistons all solid contenders and LeBron finally getting a worthy supporting cast.

So long as we don't have any major injuries and we can keep the egos to a minimum, our baseline expectation for this year is conference finals. Maybe then we could see the Suns-Spurs matchup we thought we'd see last year... then again that's we said in 2001 and 2002 with the Lakers. But who am I kidding, I want to see a Shaq-Wade vs. Duncan-Gino (and could you imagine the PG battle there? both Parker and Jason Williams committing turnovers, becoming defensive liabilities and losing their heads in big game situations only to be replaced by old-timers Van Exel and Payton... now that's FANtastic!)NBA Finals. I wanted to see it three months ago. I'll definitely want to see it nine months from now.
