Whose A Guardian Of Our Aquifer?

Aquifer Guardians and the Greater Edwards Aquifer Alliance released their scorecard for the 78th legislative session recently. The highest grade went to State Rep. David Leibowitz who scored at 75. In second place was Mike Villarreal with a score of 63. At the bottom of the barrel? Bexar County's Republican trio, State Sen. Jeff Wentworth, State Reps Frank Corte and Joe Straus plus Comal County's Edmund Keumpel who all scored a zero.

Not that far above them were Democratic State Senators Leticia Van De Putte and Frank Madla who scored a 11 and 22, respectively. Read that again. Madla actually scored higher than Van De Putte. That's horrendous.

But when the highest grade is a 75, we didn't do a very good job of protecting the Aquifer now did we? For the whole list of San Antonio-area rankings, click here (warning, PDF).
