Why I Want to be Ezra Klein and Why We Still Need John Edwards

Outside of the fact that Ezra's my favorite non-Texas blogger (close second by Matt Yglesias), a smarter person and better writer than I will ever be (add that to the fact that he is younger than me), the guy gets to have dinner with John freakin' Edwards!

Now that that's out of the system, let's segue into this post about why John Edwards was the best choice- and in my opinion still is- to become our next Dem President. Here's JRE's money quote:

Do we believe in an America where the family you're born into controls your destiny? Our ancestors left a place of princes and paupers and masters and servants. This is not our America. What we believe [is that] wherever you live and whoever your family is, and whatever the color of your skin is, if you're willing to work hard, if you're willing to take responsibility, you ought to be able to go as far as your God-given talents and hard work will take you.

Sounds an awful like this blog's namesake, which is never a bad person to be compared to.
