SA About To Get a New City Manager

WOAI and MYSA.com are reporting on their websites that San Antonio has tentatively agreed to a deal with Phoenix Deputy City Manager Sheryl Sculley to become our next City Manager. The deal that has been bantered around seems to give Sculley a $265,000 base salary with a $35,000 incentive bonus that would make her the highest paid city manager in that nation.

Sculley has been the Deputy City Manager for Phoenix for the last 15 years. She has helped shepherd numerous projects and initiatives in Phoenix- an expanded convention center, a convention center hotel, and a light rail line from between dowtown Phoenix and the Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport to name a few.

We can quibble all we want about the salary, but Sculley seems to be the sort of dynamic, take charge leader that we need to help reform city staff, and make it alot more respsonsive to the needs of the city and city council.
